University and Conservatoire: options for combining academic studies and music
(including information about Practicum Musicae)
Do you find it hard to choose between studying at the conservatoire or studying at university? Then this presentation is for you. During this meeting, we will discuss the possibilities of combining academic education with high-level music studies. We will provide information about two possible pathways: Practicum Musicae, where you combine your main studies at Leiden University with a special talent track at the Royal Conservatoire, or the conservatoire Bachelor of Music where you can choose an academic minor and electives at Leiden University. We will discuss the academic and musical prospects these two pathways can lead to. Of course we are also happy to help you with any questions you may have related to this.

Vind je het moeilijk om te kiezen tussen studeren aan het conservatorium of studeren aan de universiteit? Dan is deze presentatie voor jou. Are you in doubt about studying at the conservatoire or university? Then Practicum Musicae might be perfect for you! Only at Leiden University you can combine any bachelor- or master studies with a music talent track at the Royal Conservatoire. The three-year program contains of main subject lessons, lessons in ensemble playing and music theory. The 10 EC study credits this provides per year, can be used in the elective space of the university studies. Hear more about the program and students’ experiences during this presentation.
